- Skógar

The hamlet of Skógar lies 23km west of the hotel and is well known for its fascinating folk museum. The thing that draws you in from the main road is the thunderous Skógarfoss waterfall bringing water from the melting snows between the two icecaps. Double rainbows often adorn this fall and rumour has it that there is indeed treasure inside the plunge pool. This also where you will find the fascinating folk museum with its reconstructed houses and exhibitions of all facets of life in south Iceland including a separate exhibition showing the development of transport in Iceland.
